The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to its members, stating that anyone found endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027 will face disciplinary action.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) said it had reviewed recent acts of “anti-party” behaviour, particularly public endorsements of President Tinubu’s re-election bid, and considered them a serious threat to the party’s unity and survival.
The party cited Section 10 (6) of its constitution, which prohibits members from aligning with rival political parties or groups in a way that undermines the PDP or its elected officials.
“These public declarations of support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election violate our constitution and fuel division, disaffection, and loss of members,” the statement read.
The NWC warned that such conduct could severely damage the party’s electoral chances if left unchecked, urging those involved to retract their statements or face harsher penalties under Section 59 (1) of the PDP constitution.
The statement also called on all members to remain committed, united, and focused ahead of the party’s national convention, which is scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
