The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure victory in the 2027 general election, describing his re-election as “a done deal.”
Tunji-Ojo made the declaration in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), led by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Hon. Bayowa Foresythe, who presented him with a letter of appreciation from the group’s National Director General, Hon. Bisi Yusuf.
The minister reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots mobilisation and support initiatives aimed at consolidating the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration. He stressed that Tinubu’s popularity remains strong nationwide, particularly in Ondo State, pledging to continue championing efforts that connect government policies with the people.
“We must put in our best to support Mr. President. I cannot sit in Abuja and fail to extend support to my people in Ondo, whether through grassroots mobilization, party activities, or programmes that ease the suffering of the people,” Tunji-Ojo said.
He further noted that groups like GMT play a vital role in galvanising goodwill and votes for the ruling party, stressing that “in the end, every single vote counts.”
The minister also commended the Ondo State leadership of GMT — led by Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, former Commissioner for Works, and Hon. Rasheed Badmus, former Commissioner for Natural Resources for their commitment to sustaining grassroots support for Tinubu’s policies.
Hon. Foresythe, in his remarks, lauded Tunji-Ojo for his moral and financial contributions to GMT activities in Ondo State. He particularly highlighted the minister’s sponsorship of initiatives such as the Jingi Asiwaju free medical outreach, currently running across senatorial districts in the state, and the visibility given to President Tinubu’s achievements through national media campaigns.
He further praised the Interior Minister for reforms under his leadership, noting the improved ease of obtaining passports as a “legacy worthy of recognition.”
