Edo is set to glow this December, with colours, culture, and a spirit that never dies. The drums are being dusted, the fabrics are being pressed, and the hearts of our people are beating in rhythm with anticipation. The Edo Carnival 2025 is coming, and this time, the world will see the full splendour of who we are. 🌞
From December 21st to 27th, Benin City will wear her crown of glory again. The streets will breathe with energy, the air will hum with laughter, and the whole kingdom will come alive with that timeless magic that only Edo can summon.
The Benin Writers Society stands proud and excited, because this is more than a carnival; it is our story being told through dance, art, music, and fashion. It’s the sound of our ancestors whispering in the wind, reminding us that culture is not a costume we wear once a year, it is the soul of who we are.
This year’s celebration isn’t just about entertainment. It’s about connection. About coming home to that place in our hearts that remembers. It’s about pride, the kind that flows in our veins and shines through our art, our words, and our walk.
The Edo Carnival will bring together everything we hold dear, the Heritage Parade, the Igun Street Art Festival, the Miss Shinefest Beauty & Fashion Show, the Shine Boat Regatta, and the Grand Shine Concert that will fill the night with rhythm and passion.
But most importantly, it will bring us together.
Writers, creatives, artisans, storytellers, musicians, every soul that carries a piece of Edo in their being. This is our time to show the world that our heritage is not just history; it’s a living, breathing masterpiece.
So, we’re calling on everyone, sons and daughters of Edo, friends from far and near, come out and be part of this rebirth. Let’s walk together in unity. Let’s paint the city in our colours. Let’s speak in the language of joy and remembrance.
Because when Edo glows, she does not glow for herself alone, she glows for Africa, she glows for heritage, she glows for the generations yet to come.
The Benin Writers Society believes that storytelling goes beyond the page. This December, our story will dance in the streets, sing through the drums, and shine through the smiles of our people.
Let’s make history together.
Let’s celebrate Edo.
Let’s glow.
