Controversial and popular activist VeryDarkMan has strongly criticized the federal government following the deadly attack on a church in Kwara State, expressing outrage and deep concern over the worsening insecurity in the country.
The violent incident took place on Tuesday in Eruku, a border town in the Ekiti Local Government Area, where suspected bandits launched a coordinated assault that left at least two people dead and one injured. Among the locations targeted was a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), where worshippers were ambushed during a gathering.
According to the Kwara State Police Command, one worshipper was killed at the scene, while the body of another victim was later discovered in a nearby bush. The confirmation was given by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
Reacting to the horrifying footage circulating online, VeryDarkMan said he was overwhelmed with distress after seeing armed attackers brutally invade a place of worship, even as elderly congregants struggled to flee.
He questioned how such heavily armed individuals continue to operate freely in the country and expressed disbelief at the government’s failure to prevent the escalation of violence.
He said in part:
“I have a reason to believe that the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is no longer with us. I watched the Kwara video and could not sleep. I was disturbed all through. You know why? Because my mother is always in church. A lot of us, our mothers are always in church. These people had the audacity to attack helpless people in church then there’s no limit to what they can’t do. I was watching the video and saw one grandma using a stick to walk, she couldn’t run, and there was rapid fire outside. These people had assault rifles. Where do they get assault rifles?”
VDM called for urgent government action, stressing that Nigerians can no longer rely on luck and prayers for safety as banditry intensifies across the country.
