APC Leader Hails Wike, Says He Would Love Him in Party

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has jokingly said he wishes he could bring the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, into the ruling party, praising his performance in office.

Yilwatda made the remark on Monday during the flag-off of the construction of Collector Road CO1 from the Nile University area to Ring Road III, as well as the extension of the Body of Benchers Road in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, he described Wike as a “workaholic” minister who is always active and committed to delivering projects in the FCT.

“The workaholic, ever-working and tireless minister… I don’t know when you sleep,” he said.

He went further to express admiration for Wike’s performance, joking that he wished he could persuade him to join the APC.

“I’m jealous that you are in the PDP. I wish I could corner you and bring you to APC,” Yilwatda said.

He also referenced Wike’s political role during the 2023 elections, suggesting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had effectively “loaned” him to the APC due to his support for President Bola Tinubu.

“But I’m happy that PDP borrowed you to us in 2023… I saw your letter then to the National Working Committee of PDP borrowing you to us,” he added.

Wike, a member of the PDP, has continued to serve in the Tinubu-led administration, a situation that has sparked ongoing political debate within opposition circles.
