In a dramatic display of internal party dissent, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly today, calling for the immediate dismissal of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
Protesters drawn from all 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) marched to the Assembly complex, carrying bold placards reading “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Want Fresh Leadership”. Their demands reflect growing dissatisfaction with Ojelabi’s leadership among grassroots APC members.
Security operatives, including heavily armed police officers, were deployed around the Assembly premises to manage the crowd and prevent escalation. As of press time, there have been no reports of arrests or violent confrontations.
The protest highlights growing tension and internal distrust within Lagos APC ranks. While the national leadership has remained silent for now, this and other local unrest suggest that grassroots members are demanding a change in leadership dynamics ahead of upcoming elections.
