Fresh details have emerged following the shocking abduction of 38 worshippers from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, as the kidnappers have demanded N100 million ransom per victim.
According to reports by Leadership, the bandits have begun contacting families of the abducted church members, who were taken during a Tuesday evening service that turned deadly.
A community leader, the Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, whose four relatives are among the abducted, confirmed the development on Thursday, November 20.
Olukotun revealed that he was inside the church with five of his family members when the attack happened around 6:06 p.m. He and one ward managed to escape through a window as gunmen stormed the building and opened fire.
He said the kidnappers have now grouped the victims according to their family ties and are making ransom calls:
“Some people in the community have received calls from the kidnappers demanding N100 million for each person. As for my own relatives, I have not received any call yet, but we are waiting.”
The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, November 18, left five worshippers dead and 38 abducted, plunging the Eruku community into fear and uncertainty.
As tension grows, residents are pleading for urgent government intervention to rescue the victims and restore security in the area.
