Terrorists have launched yet another attack in Kwara State, abducting four rice farmers in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area, barely 24 hours after the deadly church assault in Eruku, Ekiti LGA.
According to sources, the latest incident occurred on Wednesday evening while the victims were harvesting rice. The gunmen reportedly stormed the farmland, surrounded the workers, and whisked them away into the bush, operating for several minutes without resistance.
The abduction has sparked widespread far across farming communities in Edu LGA, with many farmers reportedly abandoning their fields despite the peak harvest season. Entire settlements are said to be on edge, fearing further attacks.
This fresh incident follows Tuesday’s bloody ambush on a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, where gunmen opened fire during an evening meeting, killing three worshippers on the spot and abducting several others, including the pastor. The assailants escaped through bush routes connecting Eruku to nearby villages.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command has not issued any statement on either the church attack or the latest abduction.
Residents say the escalating violence underscores a deepening security crisis gripping rural communities in the state, particularly during critical agricultural periods.
