The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has praised the appointment of Coach Moses Opuamowei Aduku as the new Head Coach of Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets.
In a statement released through his media aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele described Aduku’s national elevation as a direct result of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s unwavering support for sports development, particularly women’s football.
“Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to Edo Queens FC continues to yield remarkable dividends. The appointment of Coach Aduku is a testament to his passion for women’s football in Nigeria,” Enabulele said.
Coach Aduku has been instrumental in transforming Edo Queens FC. Under his leadership, the team clinched their first-ever Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) title in May 2024, and also triumphed at the WAFU Zone B Championship, making them champions of West Africa.
Enabulele noted that Aduku’s hard work and tactical brilliance have made him a standout figure in women’s football.
“He is not new to the national stage. Aduku served as Assistant Coach of the Falconets during their impressive run to the quarter-finals at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica (2022).”
He further emphasized that the coach’s appointment is not only well-deserved but also timely, as Nigeria seeks to build a formidable U-20 women’s squad.
Enabulele also commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for entrusting Aduku with the Falconets’ top job.
“Coach Aduku’s winning mindset and technical depth make him the ideal choice to take the Falconets to greater heights,” he said.
Enabulele concluded by reaffirming the Edo State Government’s commitment to nurturing talent and supporting the rise of sports stars from the state to the global stage
