The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has officially confirmed the arrest and arraignment of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the elder brother of Nollywood star Regina Daniels.
The confirmation follows days of speculation, social media uproar, and public appeals from the Daniels family regarding his detention.
In a statement released on Friday, SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, revealed that Sammy West’s arrest stemmed from a petition accusing him and three others of criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
According to Adeh, Sammy repeatedly ignored police invitations for questioning, prompting authorities to secure a valid court warrant for his arrest.
“Upon receiving the petition, multiple invitations were sent to Mr. Samuel Ojeogwu, which he failed to honor. Consequently, the police obtained a valid court warrant for his arrest,” Adeh stated.
Following the warrant, police officers arrested him in Lagos and transported him to Abuja for further investigation. After the inquiry, he was arraigned in court on November 6, 2025, where he was remanded in custody pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
The arrest has reignited tension between Regina Daniels’ family and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, whom Regina has accused of influencing her brother’s detention.
Her siblings, including Sweezy, have publicly condemned the arrest, with Sweezy vowing to return to Nigeria and “face whatever comes.” Their mother, Rita Daniels, also alleged that there were ongoing attempts to have her detained.
Meanwhile, Regina Daniels has hinted at possible reconciliation with Senator Nwoko amid her brother’s ordeal.
In a tearful social media post, she revealed she might consider returning to her estranged husband if that would lead to Sammy’s release.
“I feel like I’m losing my mind. I’ll go back, get injected like a zombie, get locked up, and still be humiliated if that’s what it takes to free my brother,” Regina lamented.
She expressed disappointment with Nigeria’s justice system, stating that while she once respected law enforcement agencies, the recent events had shattered her faith in their fairness and integrity.
