Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has taken another bold step in reinforcing security across the state with the donation of 10 brand-new Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force, Irrua Area Command.
The official handover ceremony, held in Edo Central, reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to protecting lives and property while empowering security agencies with modern tools to respond swiftly to crime.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the command, the Area Commander described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that it would greatly enhance patrol operations and overall policing efficiency in the region.
Governor Okpebholo, while addressing the gathering, said the initiative came from a genuine desire to ensure the safety and peace of Edo citizens.
“It is not just about buying vehicles for the police,” the governor said. “It is about our concern for the well-being of our people. We cannot allow criminals to make our communities unsafe. We will continue to fight them until peace is fully restored.”
He also praised the Inspector-General of Police for deploying the MOPOL 82 Squadron to Uromi, emphasizing that their presence has already made a positive difference in the security landscape of Edo Central.
“We cannot deploy officers without providing the tools they need to work efficiently. When there’s a security alert, they must be able to respond swiftly and that is why these vehicles are critical,” Okpebholo added.
The governor further expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the federal government’s continued financial and developmental support, highlighting how federal allocations and reforms have strengthened Edo’s capacity to deliver on its commitments.
In goodwill messages, dignitaries including Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu, Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly; the Area Commander; and Shaka Momodu Williams, Vice Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Edo Central, commended the governor’s hands-on approach to governance and consistent investment in security.
Notable attendees included Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly; Emperor Jarret Tenebe, Edo APC Chairman; General Cecil Esekhaigbe (Rtd.), leader of Edo Central Senatorial District; and Senator Joe Ikpea.
