The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to construct a 500-bed hostel for the medical school at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
This announcement was made on Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, during a tour of various wards in Esan Local Government Area ahead of the August 16 Edo Central Bye-Election.
Governor Okpebholo confirmed that construction work would begin in the coming weeks, stating:
“The Edo State Government will build a 500-capacity hostel for AAU’s medical school. In the coming weeks, we will mobilise contractors to start work. When I became governor, my first announcement was to increase the school’s subvention to ₦500 million and we have delivered. We have also set up the governing council for the institution.”
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and urged APC members to mobilise support towards delivering 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The campaign tour was attended by top APC leaders, including State Deputy Chairman Sylvester Aigboboh, Edo Central Senatorial Leader Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd), the Secretary to the State Government, and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Gani Audu.
