Popular Nigerian actress and TV host Nancy Isime has shared a heartfelt story about her early days in Lagos and how singer Yemi Alade came through for her when she needed help the most.
In an emotional post that’s been trending online, Nancy revealed that during her teenage years, she once squatted in Yemi Alade’s house because she had nowhere else to stay. And the way Yemi welcomed her with open arms left a lasting impression.

Life Wasn’t Always Glamorous‘ she said!
Before the fame, endorsement deals, and red carpet appearances, Nancy started hustling in Lagos at just 17 years old. She worked as a model and usher to make ends meet, often finishing jobs late at night without enough money to get back home to Ikorodu, where her family lived.

“Sometimes I would sleep on chairs, on rugs, or even walk home at 2 or 3 a.m.,” she said.
“My dad would be checking on me, and my brothers would try to meet me halfway.”
Though her family was worried, Nancy was determined to live life on her own terms.
“I’m a dangerous gyal,” she joked, “and it’s best to let me figure life out or the rebellion will be rebellious.”
During this challenging time, Nancy met Yemi Alade through a mutual friend. One day, she reached out and asked if she could crash at Yemi’s off-campus apartment. Yemi didn’t hesitate.
“She said yes immediately, and I ended up staying for weeks,” Nancy shared.
“The peace in that house was too much, I left even when I wasn’t ready.”
According to Nancy, she had stayed with others before, but Yemi stood out because of her kindness, peace, and understanding.
“She never ever complained. And that made all the difference.”
As things started looking up, Nancy gained admission into university and was finally able to rent her own place—in the same building where Yemi lived.
Their friendship grew stronger from that point on, and Nancy says she will forever appreciate the love and support Yemi showed her during those tough years.
“I still have the softest spot for Yemi and will always be grateful to her.”
“My padi @yemialade, I dey for you for life!”
