The national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja has been sealed off by police following a violent confrontation between two rival factions on Tuesday.
When reporters arrived at the PDP headquarters at Wadata Plaza on Wednesday morning, the entrance had been barricaded with barbed wire, preventing access to the building. A small number of police officers were stationed outside, maintaining order and monitoring the situation. None of the leaders from either faction were present at the scene.
The decision to restrict entry comes amid escalating tensions within the party, with both groups laying claim to control and leadership.
Despite the blockade, a senior member of the faction loyal to Kabiru Turaki criticized the police action, insisting that their group would not be deterred.
According to him, “no one can stop us from coming to our office,” signaling that the internal crisis is far from over.
The situation remains tense as party members await further directives and possible intervention from national authorities.
