A young woman, Hadiza Musa Baffa, has accused former Minister of Special Duties and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, of allegedly r@ping her in 2014 and threatening her life to keep her silent.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday, August 17, 2025, Hadiza tearfully recounted her ordeal, alleging that Turaki subjected her and her child to years of intimidation.
“He has been using his power and his status to threaten my life and frustrate me with my child. For the record, I didn’t do anything of such,” she said.
Hadiza claimed that Turaki is the father of her child. She also denied any knowledge of a mysterious letter that had been linked to her, insisting she never authored it.
Alleged Incident
According to her, the incident occurred in September 2014 while she was a student at Base University, Abuja. She narrated that Turaki’s driver picked her up and took her to a residence in Asokoro, Abuja, where she was later assaulted.
“He came around 1 a.m. in 2014. I don’t want to go into details because it’s not a fun thing to say. He r@ped me that night and asked me not to say anything. I was really scared to talk,” she said in tears.
Hadiza explained that although she tried to hide her pain upon returning to school, her friends quickly noticed something was wrong.
She further hinted that she has evidence that will be made public soon.
Turaki Denies Allegations
In response, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki denied the allegations, describing them as “spurious, politically motivated, and orchestrated by adversaries to smear his name.”
A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Lawal Umar, read:
“The allegations are unfounded and politically orchestrated. Mr. Turaki has consistently maintained his innocence, and investigations have shown that there was no credible evidence to back the claims.”
Turaki explained that he had a long-standing relationship with Hadiza’s family and that her mother entrusted her to his care in Abuja. However, after what he described as “financial scams” linked to her, he withdrew support.
He claimed Hadiza retaliated by petitioning the police with allegations of r@pe, unlawful termination of pregnancy, and threats to life. According to him, police investigations yielded no proof, and although a case was filed, it was later withdrawn.
Turaki also maintained that a DNA controversy surrounding the case was fabricated, noting that the court had restrained parties from relying on the alleged result.
Despite being cleared, Turaki lamented that the accusations continue to resurface in the media, which he described as part of a sustained smear campaign.
