Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has rewarded the five-member Delta contingent which clinched the world title at the 2025 World Basic Schools Debate Championship in Doha, Qatar with ₦20 million each. Additionally, every coach and handler received the same generous award.

The presentation took place during a reception at Government House in Asaba, where Governor Oborevwori expressed immense pride in their achievement. Describing the students as ambassadors of Delta’s education excellence, he emphasized the importance of rewarding brilliance to inspire future youth success.

The governor highlighted the state’s commitment to building academic excellence through the MORE Agenda—a strategic programme supporting education transformation, teacher recruitment, training, and infrastructure development. In particular, he praised the student champions’ discipline, eloquence, and global competitiveness as proof of the agenda’s impact.
