Former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has made a stunning revelation, he was offered three ministerial appointments in a bid to dissuade him from backing the party’s coalition plans.
Speaking during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, Nwosu shared how powerful interests tried to buy his loyalty to derail the coalition agenda aimed at reviving democracy in Nigeria.
“They promised me three slots, one for myself and two others I could choose,” he said. “But I turned them down. I chose a democratic future for Nigeria instead.”
At the same NEC meeting, the ADC handed over its leadership to former Senate President David Mark, who was named interim National Chairman, and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who now serves as National Secretary.
According to Nwosu, this change represents a turning point for the newly rebranded Coalition Party, officially launched on July 2, 2025.
“Nigeria cannot become a one-party state. Not after all we did to send the military back to the barracks,” he emphasized.
Nwosu stated that the handover was conducted in the full presence of seven officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) a move that highlights the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
He also claimed the Coalition Party now boasts:
- Over 3 million members
- 28 senators
- More than 60 House of Reps members
Ralph Nwosu’s decision to reject high-profile appointments in favor of collective progress sends a strong message to Nigeria’s political elite.
“We were worried about the declining state of our democracy. But we insist on the coalition — in the best interest of Nigeria,” Nwosu concluded.
