The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Southwest Zone has lauded the National Executive Committee (NEC) for approving Ibadan, Oyo State, as the official host of the party’s National Convention scheduled for November 2025.
This appreciation was conveyed in a press statement signed by Engr. Kamoru Toyese Ajisafe, the National Vice Chairman (Southwest), on behalf of the PDP Southwest Zonal Working Committee.
The statement described the NEC’s decision as unanimous and strategic, thanking the National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BoT), and the PDP Governors’ Forum for backing the move.
“The leadership and teeming members of the PDP in the Southwest wish to express our profound appreciation for unanimously choosing the Southwest zone and, specifically, Ibadan, as host of the November 2025 National Convention of our great party,” the statement read.
Ibadan, the largest city in West Africa, is widely regarded as the political hub of the Southwest. The party leadership noted that the choice reflects PDP’s confidence in the region’s capacity to deliver excellence in national party events.
“This decision is a testament to the political relevance of the Southwest and our readiness to host a convention that will showcase unity, organization, and democratic values,” Ajisafe stated.
The PDP Southwest Zonal Committee pledged to ensure that the November 2025 National Convention would be:
- Peaceful and orderly
- Logistically sound
- A reflection of the PDP’s values of democracy, inclusiveness, and strategic vision
“We assure our national leadership and all delegates that the Southwest zone is fully prepared and committed to delivering a convention that will raise the bar in democratic organization,” Ajisafe affirmed.
Special appreciation was extended to:
- Amb. Illiya Damagum, Acting National Chairman
- Other national stakeholders
…for granting the Southwest what the zonal body described as a “rare privilege” to host the party’s flagship event.
