Popular TikTok content creator Peller has voiced his frustration after receiving an alleged ₦36 million tax bill from the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).
Speaking during a livestream with singer Peruzzi, Peller described the amount as outrageous, insisting he does not have the funds to pay. He noted that his rise to fame is recent and questioned the fairness of the demand.
“I just became popular, and now they’re asking me to pay ₦36 million. The government has never supported me, yet they want to tax me heavily. It’s because I’ve been open about my income on social media,” Peller said.
Peruzzi urged him to settle the tax to avoid potential legal consequences, warning that failure to comply could lead to jail time. He also advised Peller to request an extension or payment plan.
Peller, however, argued that most of his earnings come from social media platforms based outside Nigeria, making the tax demand unreasonable.
The dispute has sparked debate online about Nigeria’s tax policies and their impact on digital creators.
