Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, made a respectful visit to Daura today to extend condolences to the family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, who was laid to rest on Tuesday following Islamic and military funeral rites.
Obi signed the condolence register at the presidential residence, expressing sympathy to Buhari’s widow, children, and bereaved relatives. His presence came a day after the formal burial ceremony, where Buhari was interred at 5:50 pm amid solemn prayers and a 21-gun salute delivered by Nigerian Army generals and service chiefs
Obi’s visit, widely shared on social platforms, was celebrated as a gesture transcending political divides. It reflects a broader call for national solidarity during the mourning period.
While Obi was accompanied to Daura, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai also visited the residence to pay respects and offer prayers, reinforcing the collective national mood
