Amaechi Declares War on Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid, Slams Government on Economy and Security
Speaking on Wednesday at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Amaechi addressed a passionate crowd, criticizing the current administration for the worsening economic situation in Nigeria and promising to spearhead a movement for political change in 2027.
“I’m Tired of This Government” – Amaechi
Amaechi didn’t mince words as he highlighted the economic pressure faced by ordinary Nigerians under the Tinubu administration.
“I’m tired of this government. If a rich man is spending ₦4 million on electricity, only God knows how the masses are surviving,” he said, capturing the frustration of many Nigerians battling skyrocketing utility bills and inflation.
The former Rivers State governor pointed to growing hardship, insecurity, and a lack of electoral transparency as key reasons he believes Tinubu should not be returned to office in the next general election.
In a surprising comparison, Amaechi stated that former President Muhammadu Buhari fared better in key governance areas.
“At least under Buhari, we had a better sense of security and INEC operated with more independence,” he said, criticizing what he described as a worsening decline in institutional credibility under Tinubu.
Amaechi urged residents of Rivers and the wider South-South region to reject what he called the manipulation of election results and join the ADC to reclaim their political voice.
“We must stop the writing of results in Rivers. Go and register with ADC and let’s change the system,” he charged.
He encouraged Nigerians, especially youth and grassroots voters, to actively participate in the democratic process and resist any attempt to manipulate the electoral system in the run-up to 2027.
Amaechi, Once, a key ally in Tinubu’s rise to power, his defection to ADC and sharp criticism of the government may reshape the political landscape in the coming months.
With calls for restructuring, better governance, and a renewed push for electoral reform, Nigeria’s road to 2027 is shaping up to be one of the most fiercely contested in recent history.
