Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed Chinese national Li Zhensheng as the Economic Adviser to the state government. The announcement came during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi on Thursday.
Governor Mohammed explained that the appointment and partnership aim to position Bauchi as a rising hub for international cooperation and investment.

The long-term collaboration is expected to attract foreign direct investment, spearhead infrastructure development, and boost bilateral ties in sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade facilitation.
As part of the deal, Bauchi State will establish a Representative Office in China to monitor project execution and ensure timely delivery.
“This agreement is not just about infrastructure, it’s about transforming lives. We are opening Bauchi to the world,” Mohammed said, noting that the initiative aligns with the diplomatic vision of Presidents Xi Jinping and Bola Tinubu to strengthen China–Nigeria relations.
The governor emphasized that the move will create jobs, modernize key sectors, enhance skills, and raise Bauchi’s global profile.
Li Zhensheng, who also chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged to leverage global resources to support Bauchi’s economic growth.
“We are committed to helping Bauchi achieve sustainable development, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods,” he stated.
