Just In: Several Nigerian soldiers have been injured after terrorists ambushed a rescue team deployed to retrieve abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
The attack occurred barely 24 hours after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, gave strict orders to troops of Operation Fasan Yamma to intensify their offensive against the bandits who abducted students of Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.
“You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children,” the Army Chief directed, stressing the need for intelligence-driven, decisive operations. “Once you receive information on something like this, act professionally and decisively. This is not just about our image; it is about doing our job properly.”
Troops were instructed to sustain 24-hour operations until every abducted student is safely rescued and reunited with their families.
However, while mobilizing based on the directive, the soldiers were ambushed by heavily armed terrorists. Video footage obtained by Daily Post shows several wounded soldiers lying on the ground with no immediate medical support.
One injured soldier, speaking in Hausa, said: “Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very bad.”
