Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing security across the state with the donation of 10 brand-new Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles to the Edo State Police Command.
The vehicles, presented to the command at the Government House in Benin City, are part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations, improve police response time, and ensure safer communities for residents.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the initiative aligns with his vision to make Edo one of the safest states in Nigeria. “Security remains the foundation of development. Our government will continue to support the police and other security agencies with logistics and modern tools to effectively combat crime,” he said.
According to reports, the vehicles are equipped with advanced GPS tracking systems, a move that reportedly surprised the Edo State Commissioner of Police. The trackers are designed to promote accountability, prevent misuse of government assets, and ensure optimal deployment of the patrol units across the state.
The donation was warmly received by the Police Commissioner, who commended the governor for his proactive approach to security and promised that the vehicles would be put to effective use.
This gesture follows a series of reforms and investments by the Okpebholo administration aimed at strengthening public safety and restoring confidence in law enforcement across Edo State.
