The House of Representatives has officially passed the ₦1.48 trillion Rivers State budget for 2025, in a continued effort to legitimize the federal intervention following the suspension of the elected governor and lawmakers under emergency rule.
The budget, compiled by Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok‑Ete Ibas, presented on behalf of President Tinubu to the National Assembly on May 22, 2025, sets the state’s fiscal direction under extraordinary governance conditions.
Budget Allocation Breakdown
- ₦120.8 billion — Debt servicing
- ₦287.38 billion — Recurrent (non-debt) expenditure
- ₦1.07 trillion — Capital projects focused on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.
Budget support comes after a Senate vote in June, which also approved the ₦1.48 trillion figure.
