President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Deputy Controller‑General (DCG) Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller‑General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has confirmed.
The appointment takes effect from 14 August 2025, following the impending retirement of the current Controller‑General, Engineer Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who reaches the statutory retirement age of 60 on 13 August 2025.
DCG Adeyemi, a native of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, has served with distinction in both the FCT Fire Service and Federal Fire Service, rising to the rank of Deputy Controller‑General in charge of Human Resources at the Federal Fire Service headquarters.
He has completed all mandatory in‑service training and command courses in Nigeria and abroad, and is a member and fellow of professional bodies such as:
- Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
- Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria
- Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria
- Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria
The Kogi State Government promptly congratulated Adeyemi’s appointment, describing it as a “well‑deserved recognition of professionalism and dedication.” State officials said President Tinubu’s decision underscores confidence in Kogi indigenes’ capacity to serve the nation with excellence.
Meanwhile, the CDCFIB extended appreciation to outgoing Controller‑General Jaji, acknowledging his significant contributions and reforms during his tenure.
