Popular activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has taken a bold step in Auchi by ensuring the installation of speed bumps along Auchi Road.
The initiative, according to him, is aimed at slowing down heavy trucks notorious for reckless speeding, thereby improving safety for motorists, residents, and students who frequently ply the busy route.
A video shared online captured the activist supervising the installation process.
Public Reaction
The move has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians:
- Some hailed VDM’s effort as a humanitarian gesture, praising him for “doing the work government has failed to do.”
- Others argued that while his intentions were good, such actions on a federal road may be illegal without government approval.
- A few commenters believe his move could push authorities to take more decisive action to prevent frequent truck accidents, especially around Auchi Polytechnic axis.
While residents commend the speed bumps for potentially reducing fatal accidents, critics caution that unauthorized road modifications could expose VDM to legal challenges if not backed by government permits.
At press time, neither the Edo State Government nor the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has commented on the development.
