Actress Sarah Martins has reacted to criticism that followed a remark she made while showing off a newly received iPhone 17 Pro Max gift from Mr Anonymous.
In a video celebrating the gift, Sarah compared the device to “VeryDarkMan’s kind of iPhone 17 Pro Max,” a comment that quickly sparked reactions online. Some social media users interpreted the statement as a subtle jab at the outspoken activist.
Addressing the backlash, the actress explained that she had no intention of insulting or mocking VeryDarkMan. According to her, the comment was simply a reference to a joke he had previously made about his own phone.
Sarah said VeryDarkMan had once humorously described his device as an iPhone XR redesigned to resemble an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and she was only echoing that joke.
“I can NEVER disrespect VDM unprovoked… can’t you all take different humor from insult? Even my president personally said his iPhone 17 Pro Max is an XR coupled in 17 Pro Max, so was I wrong to say it is not VDM kind of 17 Pro Max? Nawa oooo, una body just dey pepper una,” she wrote.
The actress maintained that her statement was made in a lighthearted manner and was never intended as an attack on VeryDarkMan.
Her clarification has since generated further reactions, with some fans agreeing that the comment was harmless humor, while others argued that public figures should be careful with references that could easily be misunderstood online
