For years, many Nigerians have believed that Nana Otedola, wife of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, is Ghanaian. However, the mother of DJ Cuppy and Temi Otedola has now addressed the speculation and revealed where she truly comes from.

Speaking during a conversation with her pregnant daughter, Temi Otedola, Nana explained that despite being born and raised in northern Nigeria, her roots remain firmly in Ogun State.

According to her, she is an Egba woman from Abeokuta and not a Ghanaian as many people have assumed.

“To clear the room for everybody, I’m an Egba woman, and that’s the part I’ll gladly claim as a Nigerian. I am not a Ghanaian; my roots are in Abeokuta.”

She disclosed that she was born in Kaduna State and spent almost twenty years living there while growing up.

“I was born in Kaduna and lived there for almost two decades,” she said.

Nana suggested that her years in Kaduna and her unique name may have contributed to the widespread belief that she has Ghanaian ancestry.

Her comments have now put an end to years of speculation about her background.

The revelation comes months after her daughter, DJ Cuppy, penned an emotional tribute celebrating her mother and expressing gratitude for her love and support over the years.

Although she appreciates people’s curiosity about her heritage, Nana Otedola said she is proud of her Nigerian identity and will always proudly identify as an Egba woman from Abeokuta.
