Onanuga Says Nigerians Are Already Benefiting From Tinubu’s Policies

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has said he does not understand the level of criticism directed at the current administration, insisting that many Nigerians are already benefiting from President Bola Tinubu’s government.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Onanuga defended the administration’s economic reforms and pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects and policy interventions as evidence of progress.

He cited road construction and improved travel experiences as examples of visible development across parts of the country.

Recounting a recent journey, he said a change in route revealed unexpected road improvements.

“One day, I was travelling from Ibadan to Lagos… I just found myself on a paved road, a concrete road. I said, ‘Wow, when was this one built?’” he said.

He added that residents in some communities have reportedly experienced improved infrastructure, which he believes reflects positive government intervention.

Onanuga also highlighted the impact of the coastal highway project, saying it has reduced travel time for commuters, particularly in Lagos.

“I live in Ajah. Anytime I go to Lagos… Google Maps will tell me one hour, seven minutes. Before, it was two hours, 30 minutes,” he stated.

According to him, this reduction in travel time is evidence that the project is benefiting road users.

He further questioned criticisms of the administration, pointing to the student loan scheme as another example of government support.

“If you are a parent and you have four children in university… and they’re able to access federal loans which are interest-free, are they not benefiting?” he asked.

Onanuga maintained that, based on these developments, Nigerians are already experiencing tangible benefits from government policies.
