An 18-year-old woman has appealed to the public and authorities not to arrest her husband despite allegations that he physically abused her, leaving her with visible injuries.

The young woman made the plea in a video recorded at a hospital alongside human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu after an earlier clip showing her in distress sparked outrage online.
In the first video, nurses attending to the woman confronted a man identified as her husband as he allegedly attempted to take her away from the hospital.
“Madam, leave my wife. You want to drag my wife with me,” the man was heard saying.
One of the nurses accused him of repeatedly assaulting the young woman and manipulating her emotionally.
“You want to kill her. This girl is just 18 years old. This man is brainwashing her; he is beating her daily,” the nurse alleged.
In a follow-up video, the woman, who appeared to be receiving medical care, pleaded with Gwamnishu and other concerned individuals not to pursue legal action against her husband.
“Please, I am begging you, people. It will be as if it is my fault. The mother does not like me, please. Let me just carry myself and be going,” she said.
She further stated that she had no intention of returning to the marriage but insisted that her husband should not be arrested.
“I am not going to the marriage again; you people should leave him. I won’t go to the marriage again; don’t arrest him,” she added.
Reacting to one of the videos shared online, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency assured the public that the matter was receiving attention.
“We are on it. Thank you for tagging us,” the agency wrote.
The incident has sparked conversations on social media about domestic violence, emotional dependence, and the challenges victims often face when attempting to leave abusive relationships.
