Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has paid an emotional tribute to the late colleague Alexx Ekubo, describing him as cheerful, energetic, and deeply influential in Nigeria’s film industry.
In a video message shared on Instagram, Edochie said he met Alexx Ekubo only a few times, but each encounter left a lasting impression due to the late actor’s lively and respectful personality.
He recalled one particular visit in which Ekubo arrived at his hotel accompanied by a cow and a group of Ogene drummers to personally invite him to an event.
According to him, the late actor had shown great enthusiasm and warmth in their interactions and had even made plans for his upcoming milestone birthday celebration.
“Alexx Ekubo came, he saw, and he left an indelible impression. I met him three times. On the first occasion, he arrived at my hotel with a big cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite me to an event,” he said.
Edochie further revealed that Ekubo had expressed intentions to organize his 80th birthday celebration, a plan that never came to fruition.
“I was told he had big plans for my 80th birthday celebration next year, but unfortunately, he is gone,” he added.
The veteran actor also praised fellow actor IK Ogbonna, noting that he demonstrated true friendship and loyalty both during Alexx Ekubo’s lifetime and after his passing.
The tribute has since drawn emotional reactions from fans, who continue to mourn the late actor while celebrating his legacy in Nollywood.
