Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has condemned social media users who mocked her 15-year-old brother over his physical appearance after a video from her Snapchat account went viral online.
According to Hilda Baci, what was originally a lighthearted and harmless family moment between siblings was downloaded from her Snapchat page, reposted across multiple platforms, and twisted into content used to ridicule a minor.
She also expressed disappointment that some individuals went further to allegedly edit the teenager’s photos to exaggerate his appearance, making him the target of online bullying and body-shaming.
The chef strongly criticised the behaviour, stressing that her brother had done nothing wrong and should not be subjected to public mockery.
“I never imagined that a lighthearted video with my 15-year old brother would be taken from my Snapchat, reposted across different platforms, and turned into an excuse to bully a child,” she said.
Hilda Baci described the actions of the trolls as cruel, noting that adults should not be involved in ridiculing or manipulating images of a minor for entertainment.
She emphasised that her brother is still a teenager who is growing and developing, and should be protected rather than attacked online.
“Adults are editing the image of a 15-year-old boy and publicly mocking him. My brother did nothing except exist in a funny video with his sister,” she added.
The chef further urged social media users to reflect on their actions before posting harmful comments, reminding them that a real person is behind every image shared online.
“If your idea of entertainment is tearing down a child, then that’s a reflection of your character, not his,” she said.
In a separate statement, Hilda Baci reaffirmed that her brother, identified as David, is deeply loved and supported by his family. She described him as a kind, intelligent, and respectful young boy who is being guided through his growth and development.
She also criticised online anonymity being used as a shield for bullying, describing such behaviour as harmful and reflective of deeper personal issues among perpetrators.
Hilda concluded by reaffirming her family’s commitment to protecting her brother and ensuring he grows up in a supportive and loving environment despite online negativity.
