The manager of veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku, Moses Allen, has dismissed concerns about the actor’s mental health, insisting that he is healthy and in a stable state of mind.
The clarification follows the circulation of a viral video showing Anuku sitting by a roadside in Abuja’s Wuse 2 area, casually dressed while talking to himself and holding a disposable cup. The footage sparked widespread speculation on social media, with many questioning the actor’s well-being.
Speaking on the matter, Allen said the public had misunderstood the actor’s personality, explaining that his creative nature is often mistaken for unusual behavior.
“So I understand you guys might have seen a video and then care to ask. It’s better to ask than to start making presumptions like other people used to do every time,” he said.
According to Allen, Hanks Anuku is deeply artistic and often immerses himself in his creative world, which some people wrongly interpret as mental instability.
“He’s a character; he’s an actor. Most of what he does is in a different world of his own. People mistake it for madness or craziness, but an artist operates differently because creativity comes from a different realm,” he explained.
The manager stressed that there was nothing in the viral video suggesting the actor was mentally ill.
“He’s a serious and responsible man with a family and children. What is wrong with someone sitting by the grass, talking to himself and having a drink? Maybe he was rehearsing or imagining a scene. I didn’t see anything that should make people conclude he is mentally ill,” Allen added.
He further revealed that he has managed the veteran actor for several years and described his current condition as the best it has been in a long time.
“I’ve been his manager for years. Kindly let the world know that the legend Hanks Chukwuemeka Anuku is sound and has, in fact, never been in a better mental state than now. He’s simply an artist,” he said.
Allen also urged the public to avoid making assumptions based on short video clips and to respect the actor’s individuality and creative expression
