Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has revealed why she burnt the outfit she wore to Alexx Ekubo’s burial, saying the decision was based on advice from her godmother.
The actress shared the personal experience on social media after attending the funeral of the late actor, who was recently laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State.
According to Angela Okorie, her godmother told her that clothes worn to burial ceremonies should not be kept or worn again, but instead destroyed.
“This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My Godmother said it is not good to have the cloth you wore to a burial around you, you burn them,” she wrote.
Angela said she decided to follow the advice and also share it with others who may not be familiar with the belief.
“So family and friends take note. I felt I should pass this information. May the Lord keep and bless us with long life, amen. Chaii,” she added.
Her revelation has sparked conversations online, with some social media users agreeing with the tradition while others described it as a personal or cultural belief that may not apply to everyone.
Alexx Ekubo was buried in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday, with family members, friends and colleagues from the entertainment industry attending the emotional ceremony.
