Social media commentator Daniel Regha has reacted to Davido’s recent decision to gift ₦15 million to a fan identified as Abazz, suggesting that the money could have created a greater impact if it had been directed toward supporting struggling entrepreneurs.
The Daniel Regha criticises Davido’s N15m gift debate began after the influencer shared his opinion on social media, arguing that many small business owners are currently battling harsh economic conditions and could have benefited more from such financial assistance.
According to Regha, using the money to support entrepreneurs would have helped businesses stay afloat and create opportunities for others.
Daniel Regha Questions Davido’s Gesture
In his post, Regha implied that the singer’s generous donation appeared to be motivated more by publicity than by a desire to create lasting value.
“If Davido had used that ₦15m to fulfil his pledge to entrepreneurs, that would’ve been much better, and much more impactful, as a lot of business owners are struggling to stay in business,” he wrote.
He further alleged that attracting attention often seems to be the objective behind such public gestures.
“But of course, clout is the goal,” Regha added.
The social media critic also claimed that if he were in Abazz’s position, he would reject the monetary gift despite being a fan of the award-winning singer.
“If I were Abazz, I will turn down the ₦15m for good reasons; fan or not,” he stated.
Mixed Reactions Trail Regha’s Opinion
Regha’s comments have sparked debate online, with social media users expressing differing views on Davido’s decision.
While some agreed that supporting entrepreneurs could have produced broader economic benefits, others argued that Davido has the right to spend his money however he chooses and should not be criticised for rewarding loyal fans.
Davido has yet to publicly respond to Regha’s remarks, but the discussion has once again highlighted the recurring debate over celebrity philanthropy, public generosity, and how influential figures choose to distribute their wealth.
