The former wife of Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya has publicly addressed the end of their marriage, sharing her side of the story following the actor’s announcement that their union had been dissolved.
In a series of statements, she alleged that the marriage began to unravel after she discovered that her husband was involved with one of her close friends, who had served as a bridesmaid during their wedding.
According to her, the situation contributed significantly to the breakdown of the relationship, leading her to leave the marriage only a few months after their wedding.
She claimed that she endured emotional distress during the marriage and eventually decided to walk away for the sake of her well-being.
“I left my marriage because I was in pain and there was violence. I felt invisible. For my life, I had to go,” she stated.
The former spouse further disclosed that they had been living separately since the previous year, stressing that people rarely leave a happy marriage without serious reasons.
“Nobody abandons a happy home. When your peace is gone, you choose yourself,” she said.
Addressing speculation surrounding their age difference, she maintained that it was never a factor in the collapse of the marriage.
“He’s older than me, but age wasn’t the issue,” she explained.
While declining to reveal further details about their relationship, she insisted that there were circumstances behind her decision that she preferred to keep private.
She also alleged that the friend she accused of being involved with the actor is now married to him.
“After all I suffered, he married my best friend,” she claimed.
