Daddy Freeze has come to the defence of Peller amid ongoing controversy surrounding YCee’s “Olodo Uprising” remarks, arguing that it is unfair to blame the content creator for deeper societal issues.
The debate began after rapper YCee sparked reactions with comments interpreted as criticism of Nigeria’s value system and educational culture, leading to widespread online discussions.
Reacting to the backlash directed at Peller, Daddy Freeze said the country’s “olodo culture” is a reflection of systemic failures rather than the fault of individuals.
According to him, economic hardship and low rewards for academic achievement have contributed to the declining value placed on formal education in Nigeria.
He argued that it is unfair to single out Peller, stating that many young people are simply adapting to a broken system.
“We have an olodo culture, but it’s unfair to put the blame on Peller. It’s not fair putting fault on an intelligent man like Peller, who took advantage of a broken system,” he said.
Daddy Freeze also pointed to income disparities among highly educated professionals, noting that poor remuneration discourages academic excellence.
“I know a friend who is a professor and earns 700k a month. This is one factor that destroyed the value system. Education was not a means to reach a goal,” he added.
He further compared national reward systems, highlighting the gap between entertainment success and academic achievement.
“This is also why BBNaija winner earns N100m and best graduating student gets 10,000 naira,” he said.
The comments have continued to generate debate online about education, entertainment, and Nigeria’s evolving social and economic priorities.
