Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has appointed actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo as his official spokesperson.
Okonkwo announced the appointment in a statement shared on his official X account on Thursday, expressing gratitude to Atiku for the opportunity and the confidence placed in him.
“I give God all the glory for being appointed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar as his spokesperson. I thank His Excellency for the immense confidence reposed in me,” he wrote.
The former Nollywood actor, who is also a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), described the appointment as a reflection of Atiku’s leadership style, praising the former vice president for embracing dialogue and inclusiveness.
According to Okonkwo, Atiku is known for engaging with associates who express differing opinions rather than taking offence at constructive criticism.
“Rather than take offence at associates for expressing genuine reservations about any action taken, His Excellency always opts for dialogue and compromise that engender solutions to problems,” he stated.
The appointment comes as Atiku continues to strengthen his political team ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
