Security Alert: Oyo Enforces 16-Hour Curfew Around Old Oyo National Park

by Editor

The Oyo State Government has announced a 16-hour curfew across 10 local government areas following rising security concerns linked to activities around the Old Oyo National Park.

The restriction, approved by Governor Seyi Makinde, takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, as part of efforts to safeguard lives and maintain public order in the affected communities.

According to the state government, the curfew will be enforced daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and will remain in place for an initial period of 48 hours while security agencies assess the situation on the ground.

Authorities said the measure became necessary due to growing security challenges in areas surrounding the Old Oyo National Park, with residents urged to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies during the period of the restriction.

The government also assured citizens that security operatives have been deployed to monitor compliance and prevent any breakdown of law and order in the affected local government areas.

Residents have been advised to limit movement during curfew hours and remain vigilant while reporting any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

Further updates on the curfew and any possible extension are expected after security agencies submit their assessment of the situation.
